Kate came into this world with a passion for performing in any way she could. She tried to maintain her tomboy status but at a young age she started falling in love with ballet, tap and jazz. Kate enjoys music and plays the piano, guitar and loves to sing along with her ukulele. She has been in musical theatre productions in High School and College and still sings in small groups when she gets the chance. In college she started as a business major but her focus kept narrowing back to performing arts specifically to dance and some gymnastics. But it wasn’t until after college that she started her deep love for Hip Hop with the musical and lyrical complexities involved. She enjoys the challenge and freedom that this particular style of dance gives her when choreographing her routines. As a wife and mother of 4 Kate likes being at home with her family and sewing and creating her own clothing patterns allows her to do this. She has created and sewn some of the costumes for Academy of Dance ballet’s including many for the lead performers in Beauty and the Beast, The Nutcracker and Peter Pan. Kate started life by trying to choreograph her 5 siblings and has since upgraded to the incredibly talented students (and daughter) here at Academy of Dance.
