Class Requirements/Pre-requisites

 

Ballet Tech Classes
This class is intended to give dancers additional technique training and meet pre-pointe or pointe class requirements. Dancers who register for a Ballet Tech class must also be registered for a regular Ballet class at their level.

 

Jazz V-VI
Dancers must be registered in at least one additional technique class (Ballet V-VI, Ballet Tech IV-V, or Ballet Tech V-VI).

 

Lyrical/Contemporary V-VI
Dancers must be registered in at least one additional technique class (Ballet V-VI, Ballet Tech IV-V, or Ballet Tech V-VI).

 

Musical Theater V-VI
Dancers must be registered in at least one additional technique class (Ballet V-VI, Ballet Tech IV-V, or Ballet Tech V-VI).

 

Ballet V-VI
Dancers in Ballet V or VI must also take Pointe I-III (depending on level) and all additional required technique classes.

 

Pre-Pointe
Pre-pointe students are required to take Ballet IV, Pre-Pointe, and a minimum of two additional technique classes per week, at level III or IV. Pre-Pointe dancers may choose from any of the following technique classes: Ballet classes at level III or IV, Ballet Tech, Leaps & Turns, Ballet Variations, Lyrical/Contemporary. Pre-Pointe students may only use a Lyrical/Contemporary class to fulfil one of the required technique classes.

 

Pointe I-III
For the safety and proper development of our pointe students, all pointe dancers are required to take Ballet V or VI (depending on level), Pointe I-III, and a minimum of two additional technique classes per week, at levels IV-VI. Pointe dancers may choose from the following technique classes: Ballet classes at levels IV-V, Ballet Tech, Ballet Variations, Lyrical/Contemporary, Pre-Pointe and Leaps & Turns. Pointe students may only use a Lyrical/Contemporary class to fulfil one of the required technique classes.

 

Synergy & Synergy Tech
For current Synergy Dance Company & Synergy Elite Petite members only.

 

Pre-Professional Classes
Academy of Dance’s Pre-Professional Program is by invitation only. Students must be advanced to, and registered in, Ballet VI and Lyrical VI or Jazz VI to be eligible for the Pre-Professional Program. Additionally, they must meet all technique requirements for Pointe. To maintain a pre-professional level of dance requires vast performance experience, the ability to handle the pressure of performing in a competitive environment, the experience of conventions (training and exposure to top industry professionals), and the ability to dance as a team and as a soloist. Therefore, Pre-Professional students must also be Synergy Dance Company members.
